Grade 3 and 4 antlers usually are not worth using for a chandelier as they usually have large cracks and may even crumble. It is always best to use a top grade for your chandelier to ensure sturdy, safe construction.

Chandeliers can also be made using faux antlers. Faux antlers are preferred by people who have concerns about the collection process of real antlers or for those that simply like the look of real antlers but don’t want real antlers hanging in their homes. Faux antlers are made from a hard substance such as resin. The resin is poured into pre-made molds that are shaped like antlers. Faux antlers weigh less than real antlers because of the materials used to make them. In addition, they lack the natural color variations that real antlers possess.

There are different types of deer antlers so there are variations. Deer antlers from whitetail and mule deer are very popular. These two types of antlers do not look the same as the coloring differs amongst the types of antlers. The size of the whitetail and the mule antlers also vary as some deer have antlers that grow larger naturally.
